Snow expected in parts of country, including KZN

It looks like there may be snow this weekend, according to the SA Weather Service.

PARTS of South Africa can expect a cold front to drop over the next few days, according to the South African Weather Service. Port Elizabeth alone experienced its coldest morning for the year, with the temperature dropping to 1.9°C on Wednesday.

According to Quinton Jacobs, senior forecaster at the weather service, KwaZulu-Natal will also see a drop in temperature, and snowfall is also expected in KZN on Saturday.

“Snowfall is expected in places on the Drakensberg on Saturday, but at the moment it does not seem to be heavy disruptive snow. The cold front system itself does not seem to influence KZN, but the ridging of the Atlantic high does.

“The ridging of the high will bring in the showers and cold air behind the frontal system by Saturday morning, spreading to most parts of the province,” he said.
