VIDEO: Rescue organisation appalled by animal cruelty case

Tino, suffered severe nerve damage to his back legs and had to drag himself around.

MEMBERS of the animal rescue organisation, Phoenix Care and Treatment (PACT) said they will be laying charges against the owners of a severely disabled dog that had to be euthanised recently. Neeri Naidoo, from the organisation said they were appalled when they found Tino, who could not move his back legs due to severe nerve damage, at a home in Phoenix.

A video captured by the members of PACT shows the dog in visible pain as he drags himself around.

“It was just horrible. He was an old dog who could not use his back half of his body. He actually had to drag himself around. When we located his owners, they claimed they were poor and could not get him treated. They also said he was still eating going to the toilet normally, so they didn’t think there was anything wrong with him,” she said.

“We were appalled as they are aware of the SPCA which could have been an option. Tino was taken to the vet and the diagnosis was bad. He had severe nerve damage and needed to be put to sleep. We are sorry humans failed him. His face will forever be on our minds as a reminder of what horror the human race is capable off,” she said
