THE fire that broke out at a restaurant at Gateway Shopping Centre in uMhlanga has been brought under control. Shoppers were evacuated from the busy shopping mall after a fire broke out in the Food Court earlier this afternoon.
“It is believed to have started in an extractor system of one of the fast food outlets. The affected area of the mall has been evacuated and no injuries have been reported thus far,” Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen said.
Traffic in an out of uMhlanga has been affected by the blaze.
While the firefighters were quick to douse the flames, the hashtag Gateway began trending on Twitter with many seeing the lighter side of the fire. Here are some of the responses.
