One dead, four injured in horrific M4 crash

Paramedics had to use the jaws of life to rescue two people trapped in one of the vehicles.

A HORRIFIC collision on the M4 at the intersection of Argyle Road has left one person dead. Four people were also injured in the fatal accident after two vehicles collided with each other.

According to Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Athlenda Mathe, reports from the scene indicate that a Hyundai H1 collided with a Renault Clio. Paramedics had to use the jaws of life to free two occupants of the Renault.

“When paramedics arrived on scene, we found that the two occupants of the Hyundai H1 sustained moderate injuries. The driver and the front seat passenger of the other vehicle were both trapped, paramedics had to use the jaws of life to extricate the two occupants from the wreckage.

 

“Unfortunately, the passenger succumbed to his injuries on scene – paramedics worked tirelessly to resuscitate the man but he was declared dead. The passenger in the back seat of the Clio was ejected from the vehicle and is in a critical condition,” she said.
