Firefighters put out blaze at Redhill warehouse

Quick thinking from staff and a local security company doused a blaze in Redhill.

WHILE firefighters were battling the massive flames that engulged one of the biggest churches in Durban, the Jesus Dome, last night, another blaze was raging in Redhill.

According to Kyle van Reenen, Marshall Security was alerted to a structural fire at a business premises in Moreland Drive after 7pm on Tuesday.

“An on-site guard noticed smoke coming from one of the warehouses and alerted our emergency control room, which immediately dispatched eThekwini Fire and Rescue Services. Swift action by on-site personnel and members of our special operations team saw the blaze contained until the arrival of fire services.

“Luckily only minimal damage was caused. The origin of the blaze is believed to have been an electrical fault. We would like to express our appreciation to the members of the fire department for their ongoing dedication to those in need,” Van Reenen said.
