THE profile picture is often the first thing people see about our social media pages, and experts believe the photos can tell a lot about the user’s personality.
A study at the University of Pennsylvania, which analysed 60 000 social media users’ photos and asked 429 people to fill out a personality questionnaire, has made the following conclusions.
If the profile picture is a close-up of the user’s face it means that he or she is conscientious, organised and self disciplined.
A group photo, the study found, suggests that the person is fun-loving and extroverted.
Black and while photos seems to indicate that the user is neurotic, emotional, dramatic and a little pessimistic, the study revealed.
However, a colourful profile photo shows the user is creative and agreeable, friendly and cooperative.
Finally, artsy photos indicate that the user is open, adventurous and intellectual.
