SOUTH Africans who have not yet registered or ensured that their addresses are correctly captured on the voters’ roll are encouraged to do so before 5pm today.
According to the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister, Des van Rooyen, members of the public will be able to register for the 2016 local government elections at the offices of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), in their local municipalities.
“As part of the preparations towards the successful local government elections, the voters’ roll closes on Monday, 23 May,” said Van Rooyen on Sunday.
Van Rooyen also intends to gazette and proclaim the date of the coming local government elections today.
