Call for more pollution warriors

With little respite in pollution along the beaches another Durban North resident has come forward to initiate a clean-up.

EFFORTS to clear the devastating pollution along the local beaches have continued as Durban North resident Charl Du Plessis plans to initiate a clean-up at the Virginia Beach.

Du Plessis, who recently moved to the area, said in a post shared onto the Durban North Neighbours Facebook page that he was appalled and shocked by the ‘terrible pollution’. Subsequently he has made an appeal to the public to assist with a clean-up.

“It really was sad to see,” he wrote.

The local said he hoped to rally 200 volunteers to assist with the ‘mammoth task’.

“We will arrange all the bags required for collection as well as hospital gloves,” said Du Plessis. The clean-up is currently set to take place on 28 May.

Anyone interested in taking part in the initiative is urged to e-mail Du Plessis via ops@btlogistics.co.za.

On Saturday dozens of residents supported an Emergency Clean-up at the Beachwood Mangroves.
