Armed robbery at uMgeni Park service station

The men made off with various items including R2 500 in cash.

FIVE men, two of whom were armed with 9mm pistols, held up a service station on Riverside Road at about 8pm. According to Kyle van Reenen of Marshall Security the suspects came on foot and were seen taking off in the direction of Sea Cow Lake.

“The men held up staff members at the Shell Garage and took three cell phones, R2 500 in cash and cigarettes. Thankfully no one was injured in the robbery,” he said.

This is the second serious crime in uMgeni Park after a man was shot in the leg on Friday during an armed robbery.

In March, armed robbers took aim at a cash-in-transit van on North Coast Road. A shootout ensued and the men made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
