Armed suspects ambush guard, steal gun

The security guard was responding to a break-in in Glen Anil when he was robbed.

A SECURITY guard was accosted and robbed by armed men after he responded to a business robbery on Columbine Place on Tuesday night. The incident occurred at about 6.45pm. According to W/O Leon Audh, spokesman for the Greenwood Park SAPS, one of the suspects pointed a firearm at the guard’s head.

“As he parked his vehicle opposite the business premises that the alleged break-in occurred at, he noticed that the main gate was half open. Before he could get out his vehicle, he was accosted by two armed men, one of whom pointed a firearm at his forehead while the other removed his firearm from his bullet-proof vest.

“The armed suspects then jumped into a dark-coloured Audi sedan and fled the scene. No arrests have been made yet and we are still searching for the suspects. We appeal to the community at large that, if they should have any information that could assist Greenwood Park police with this investigation, to contact me on 079 500 0261,” he said.
