La Lucia mum and daughter escape hail of bullets

Bullet casings found at the scene confirmed that the suspects were wielding 9mm pistols.

THREE armed men opened fire on a La Lucia mother and daughter as they drove into their Morice Place property about an hour ago.

According to Marshal Security’s Kyle van Reenen, the family spotted the men and their white unknown vehicle as they drove up the driveway.

“The men opened fire, shooting several rounds at the victims’ vehicle. The mother reversed out of the driveway and around the corner where they alerted our patrol officers at one of the huts,” he said.

One of the bullets struck the victims’ car.

When the officers arrived at the scene the suspects had fled. “While the suspects raided the victims’ closets and cupboards it does not seem as if anything had been stolen. The suspects left in such a hurry that they left various house break-in implements at the scene, such as a crowbar,” he said.

Van Reenen confirmed that the thieves had gained entry into the home via one of the windows.
