WHEN authorities were alerted to a suspicious man pushing a shopping trolley down the M4 Ruth Highway near La Lucia last night, they were not prepared for what lay inside.
The body of a woman, hidden underneath a blanket, was being carted along the road the night before the country was to celebrate Freedom Day.
Kyle van Reenen, spokesperson for Marshall Security said, the suspect fled across the highway, into the dense bush when reaction officers approached.
“On closer inspection of the abandoned shopping trolley, the body of a deceased female, approximately 30 years of age was discovered, having suffered fatal blunt force head injuries,” he said.
The Durban North SAPS and Durban Central K-9 unit were called in to assist, but despite an extensive search the suspect remains at large.
