Miller and Abbott leave Dolphins

Sunfoil Dolphins CEO, Pete de Wet, has wished the pair - both currently involved in the Kings XI Punjab’s IPL campaign - all the best for their future.

THE Sunfoil Dolphins announced last week that Protea star, David Miller, will be leaving the ranks of the franchise. Miller is the fifth player to leave Dolphins in recent times, including the likes of Proteas player, Hashim Amla, and Kyle Abbott, as well as Jonathan Vandiar and Daniel Sincuba, who are both joining Titans.

Sunfoil Dolphins CEO, Pete de Wet, has wished the pair – both currently involved in the Kings XI Punjab’s IPL campaign – all the best for their future.

“It is always disappointing to lose players, particularly those of the calibre of David and Kyle. We are however extremely grateful for all that they have brought to the Sunfoil Dolphins set-up, both on and off the field, and trust they will continue to make us proud, both locally and internationally in coming years.

“The last two months have seen significant changes to the Sunfoil Dolphins side as we start to build for our future success, and all of this is being done to support our desire to be the number one franchise in South Africa,” he added.

Miller, a KZN-born and bred player, said the decision to leave the coastal franchise had been a tough one.

“This has been an incredibly difficult decision for me. I was raised in KZN, schooled in KZN and played much of my cricket for KZN and the Dolphins. The direction the franchise is currently heading in is an extremely positive one; the Sahara Stadium Kingsmead has been turned around of late and the squad is full of talent that I’m sure will produce trophies for the franchise in the very near future. I have however decided to move on as the timing is right in my career to step outside of my comfort zone and look to challenge myself with something new and fresh,” he added.
