Kensington restaurant robbed by armed men

One of the staff members was assaulted in the armed robbery.

A RESTAURANT on Adelaide Thambo (Kensington Drive) was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash and items an hour ago. Details remain sketchy but according to a police source, the armed men held up the manager before making off with the cash.

One of the managers was struck on the hand by a gun wielding suspect in the robbery.

“We believe the men were asking for jobs and then held up the manager. One of the men was armed with a knife, while another one had a screwdriver and the third a gun. More than R5 000 was taken in the robbery as well as a laptop and a cell phone,” the source said.

Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, said the suspects fled on foot.

“Reports from the scene indicate the morning manager was confronted by three men. One of them held the manager at knife point, while the others demanded money and his cell phone. It is alleged the suspects made off with a large sum of money. Marshall Security and the Durban North SAPS searched for the suspects but we could not locate them. They remain at large, the scene was handed over to the police for further investigation,” he said.
