WATCH: Parliament debates Zuma’s impeachment

Parliament is due to vote on a motion to impeach President Jacob Zuma.

PRESSURE for President Jacob Zuma to be impeached is hotting up in parliament. The hearing started at 2pm today.  The move comes after opposition parties led a motion to have Zuma removed from office. Last week, the highest court in the land, the Constitutional Court, ruled that President Jacob Zuma must pay back a portion of the money for non-security upgrades at his Nkandla homestead in KwaZulu-Natal.

On Friday, Zuma addressed the country, saying he welcomes the Constitutional Court’s findings on the Nkandla saga. He added that he never intended to fail to comply with the remedial action proposed in the Public Protector’s report.
