The Greenwood Park SAPS warned residents to be on the lookout for a silver VW Caddy used in a number of robberies in the area.

Earlier this month, an uMhlanga mother and daughter were assaulted and robbed by five suspects who were spotted in the vehicle.

In the latest incident, the car was again spotted during a business robbery where R150 000 worth of computers were taken. According to Greenwood Park SAPS spokesman, W/O Leon Audh, the armed men forced open a business premises before ransacking it on Friday morning last week. The incident occurred on Brickworks Way.

“The armed men held up a security guard patrolling the business premises and forced him into the guard room. He was ordered to lie down. The suspects then made off with various electronic items. I urge residents to be on the lookout for this vehicle and not to approach the men should they see the vehicle. They are considered armed and dangerous. This vehicle has also been used in business robberies in the Durban North and Mount Edgecombe business districts. Contact the station on 031 571 6512,” he said.

Audh added that the vehicle’s distinctive features included tinted windows, a tow bar and silver grey in colour. The VW Caddy was also believed to be involved in a robbery in Westville earlier this month.
