THE situation remains tense along North Coast Road following a reported cash-in-transit heist at the Engen Garage a few minutes ago.
According to Tyron Powell of Marshal Security, two vehicles have reportedly been involved in the robbery.
Security guards are said to have come under fire when several suspects ambushed the petrol station, brandishing rifles.
Multiple shots were fired at the scene, he said.
The suspects are said to have fled towards KwaMashu.
Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen said no injuries have been reported at this stage, adding that the armed men were traveling in a white VW Polo.
