WIN: Tickets to see Marc Lottering in Durban

Marc Lottering told us that his strongest memory of his childhood was a yearning to taste ‘ball curry’.

ONE of South Africa’s favourite comedians, Marc Lottering, will be in Durban, for one night only performing his show, Hash Tag Lottering Show. Marc told the Northglen News that the show will cover a broad range of topics, ranging from how to successfully live in debt to the dangers of ‘skinnering’ on WhatsApp.

Hash Tag Lottering Show takes place at The Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre on Tuesday, 15 March at 8pm. Tickets range from R70 to R120 per person and booking is through Computicket. We not only asked Marc for three double tickets to give away to our readers, we also asked him a  few questions.

What things don’t you like doing, name two:

Holding my stomach in while people take selfies with me. Strenuous.
Driving with a passenger who always knows a shortcut.

Tell us about a time when things didn’t go the way you wanted:
Happens often. Like last Sunday night when I dropped my phone in the toilet bowl. Accidentally of course. It’s a long story. I shall reveal details in the show. This is not the place for toilet humour.

What do you think about when you are alone in your car?
I ensure that that my hair’s always looking amazing for the hidden cameras.

What’s your strongest memory of your childhood?
The yearning to taste ‘ball curry’, which our neighbour, Mrs Dollie always threatened to be cooking every time a ball landed in her garden.

What do you dislike about South Africa?
About three thousand million and two and one hundred and forty two three things.  But let’s not get into it.

What makes you angry?
Paying three hundred Rand for a glass of wine when traveling abroad. I sip very slowly. VERY SLOWLY.

Besides your job, what are you most passionate about?
Dancing! In my head, I’m Drake.

Name one misconception you think people have about you?
That I’m good looking. I hear this all the time. But I struggle to believe it. I’m slowly coming to terms with it.

Some advice to people who want to follow your path; what are three things you should never do in this business?
Do not go onstage drunk.
Do not steal jokes.
Do not take the audience for granted.

What do you envision yourself doing when you turn 80?
Celebrating my 65th birthday! Again!
