Join 31 Club’s ‘tee’ party

Tee-off with the women of the 31 Club at the Mount Edgecombe Golf Club to support their fundraising initiatives.

FOR their second annual fundraising event, the women of the 31 Club will be hosting a ladies’ golf day with a fruity twist.

The Tutti Fruitti Ladies’ Golf Day Fundraiser, to be held on 15 March at the Mount Edgecombe Golf Club, requires that all participants dress up in their brightest and fruitiest themed outfits for a fun four-ball event.

At last year’s event, the club saw over 200 women supporting the initiative and this year they hope to see that number grow.

“Every cent helps us to continue with our projects assisting those that are in need. This year we will be focusing a lot on life and skills development,” said Monika Davies, co-chairlady of the club.

Every year, the club hosts five events to raise funds used to support 50 organisations within the greater Durban area, including the Animal Anti-Cruelty League, CHOC, I Care, Highway Hospice, Durban & Coast SPCA and Open Door Crisis Centre.

In February, the club’s first fundraising event of the year, ‘Dare to Love Yourself’, raised a whopping R90 000.

The 31 Club is a registered non-profit organisation formed in 1962 by a group of women under the chairmanship of Norma Rattray. The group strives to raise funds for various organisations and charities in KwaZulu-Natal. As the group consisted of 31 volunteers, the club was named accordingly, and membership remains at a maximum of 31 members who work on a regular voluntary basis.
