According to Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, detectives are investigating whether foul play was involved in the Phoenix resident’s death.

“The post-mortem concluded he had died by drowning. There were no marks or visible injuries to suggest he was assaulted prior to his death. However, we have to investigate every angle and we will be looking at the foul play angle. His family said he left at 9am on Sunday morning and were alarmed when they didn’t hear from him on Sunday evening. It was only the next day that he was discovered on the shore,” he said.
