Two cyclists killed on M4

Car plows into group of cyclists training on the Ruth First Highway just after the Broadway off-ramp.

TWO cyclists on their early morning training session were killed after they were struck by a car on the M4 just past the Broadway off-ramp this morning. The accident occurred at about 5am on Sunday morning.

“Reports from the scene indicate that a black Golf GTI collided with the cyclists while they were traveling in a northerly direction on the M4. Tragically both died due to the extensive injuries that they sustained,” explained Chris Botha of Netcare 911.

According to Garrith Jamieson of Rescue Care, the cyclists were declared deceased at the scene.

“The vehicle driver had sustained minor injuries,” Jamieson added.
