WATCH: Brazen criminals target Durban North complex

The criminals left empty handed, but caused R60 000 worth of damage to cars in a residential complex parking lot.

BRAZEN criminals forced open the gates of a Durban North complex and tried to steal several cars from the underground parking. The incident occurred on Friday at about 2.45am. The suspects set off several car alarms and were chased off by a resident awoken by the noise. They caused an estimated R60 000 worth of damage.

A source close to the Durban North SAPS said the men arrived in a white Mercedes Benz and forced open two gates.

“They broke into some of the vehicles and tried to start them, but failed to do so. They seemed to know they were being recorded and turned their faces away whenever they spotted any of the CCTV cameras. They caused damage to four gate automations and three cars to the value of about R60 000,” he said.
