Couple attempts suicide off M4 bridge
A couple was left stranded after a failed suicide attempt.
THERE was high drama in the early hours of this morning when security company members went to the aid of a couple who tried to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge on the M4.
The incident, according to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), happened near La Mercy. In a post on Facebook, a RUSA official said: “A passing motorist contacted the RUSA operations centre after noticing a female jumping over the bridge into the lagoon. A male seen fleeing the scene was stopped by the motorist. The male then broke free and also jumped over the bridge.”
They added that the officers found the couple stuck on an island in the lagoon after they swam to safety. The pair were eventually rescued.
