A VIDEO showing the brazen attempts of two men trying to steal a car in broad daylight as cars drive past on Chris Hani (North Coast) Road has surfaced on social media. The video which was featured on the Phoenix Crime Watch page shows the men surreptitiously walk past the car, then seconds later return and try to break the lock on the driver’s door.
One of the suspects, acted as a lookout, while the other tried to pick the lock. They are then interrupted by an alert member of staff who chase the brazen pair off.
Wesley Rajbansee, whose car the criminals had tried to break into, said he was shocked when he saw the footage on the CCTV cameras.
“I was out on deliveries at the time. My boss told me about the guys. This is the second time they’ve tried to steal my car and I suspect it’s the same guys. The first time they tried to break into the passenger window, but were unsuccessful. About four or five months ago, they managed to steal a polo outside the business.
“I was surprised that no one driving past tried to stop the guys. You could see they were up to no good. I’m thankful they didn’t get my car and I’m just warning other businesses on North Coast Road to be on the lookout for these guys,” the 25-year-old said.
