Northwood bids fond farewell to Mrs Carazzo

After decades of service Emelia Carazzo stepped down as secretary at Northwood Boys' High School.

IT is with a heavy heart that staff and pupils at Northwood Boys’ High School bade farewell to their beloved and renowned secretary, Emelia Carazzo.

Carazzo, who turned 65 earlier this year, retired on 11 December following 18 years of dedicated service to the school. Speaking to the Northglen News recently, she said did not feel ready to retire.

“I love to be busy and I have loved serving the school. It has also been heartbreaking to say goodbye to the boys. Most of them I have known since they were in Grade 8.

Over the years, I have watched them grow into men. It has been a true honour and a privilege. I hope that I was able to make a difference in their lives,” she said.
On Wednesday, 18 November, Carazzo joined the matric pupils as they participated in the annual tradition of ringing the famous Northwood Bell to signify the end of their school careers.

Headmaster, Paul Macavoy, said Carazzo would be sorely missed at the school. He and fellow staffed wished her all the best in her future adventures.
