A City Golf allegedly crashed into an ambulance while paramedics were attending to an injured pedestrian on North Coast Road.

At around 5.30pm a car had struck the 24-year-old man in Redhill near Rinaldo Road, said Kyle van Reenen, of Crisis Medical.

“Whilst emergency service workers were attending to a 24-year-old man who had sustained minor injuries, a vehicle allegedly disregarded the red emergency warning lights of the stationary ambulance, smashing into the rear of it at high speed,” he added.

The local authorities were on scene and will investigate the incident further.

“We cannot stress enough the importance of scene safety and driver awareness when approaching the scene of an accident,” he said.
