Facebook – too cool for school?

The data collected by the researchers suggest that only 65 per cent of teens think that Facebook is cool, however a majority of the research respondents still admitted to using the application regularly.

A RECENT youth survey conducted by Forrester Research has suggested that while teens do not perceive Facbook as one of the ‘cool’ social media platforms, they are using it more than ever.

The data collected by the researchers suggest that only 65 per cent of teens think that Facebook is cool, beating only Tumblr (62 per cent), Pinterest (58 per cent) and Google+ (55 per cent). YouTube, Snapchat and Instagram are leading the pack with 80 percent, 79 per cent and 78 per cent of teens perceiving them as trendy.

Ironically, 75 per cent of the research respondents said they used Facbook at least once a month, which is more than Instagram (55 per cent), Twitter (50 per cent) and Snapchat (45 per cent). YouTube is reportedly the most-used social media application, according to 80 per cent of teens. Approximately one-third of the teens said they use Facebook ‘all the time’.

Facebook was listed as one of the top platforms to use to connect with friends and family.
