Oscar granted bail

Oscar Pistorius is set to spend Christmas at home after being granted bail earlier today.

OSCAR Pistorius will be able to spend Christmas at home. This after Judge Aubrey Ledwaba granted the disgraced athlete bail earlier today.

According to media reports sentencing will only commence next year. Until then the former Olympic athlete will remain under house arrest at his uncle’s home in Pretoria.

Last week Justice Eric Leach changed his conviction from manslaughter to murder. Pistorius now faces a minimum sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment.

Since his original sentence of manslaughter Pistorius has spent one of his five-year sentence in jail. He was released from prison on 19 October under correctional supervision.

According to his lawyer Pistorius said he would appeal his murder conviction.

Pistorius shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in his Pretoria home on Valentine’s Day in 2013. To date Pistorius insists that he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder hiding in the bathroom.
