Dumping spews into La Lucia

Dumped building rubble, littering and alleged public urination has been reported in the affluent community.

LA LUCIA residents have expressed outrage about a pile of rubbish dumped at the corner of Umhlanga Rocks Drive and Addison Drive.

The upmarket area has become an eyesore with residents complaining over the heaped pile of building rubble as well as general litter strewn by pedestrians.

There have also been reports of people urinating and defecating under the tree located at the corner.

Ward councillor Heinz de Boer said he had reported the dumping earlier in the week, but added that he would escalate the issue to Durban Solid Waste.

“It is unacceptable. People who do this obviously have no pride in their city or neighbourhood. The unfortunate thing is that it is such a public road, but people still seem to get away with dumping something like this,” he said.
