Dig deep for rescue organisation at fundraiser

The Christmas Market Fundraiser will raise funds for Project Dog.

FOR the past four years, a Christmas fundraiser, in aid of animal rescue organisations has been held in Durban North. This year is no different, as local resident, Denzil Burmester is raising funds for Project Dog. The non-profit organisation is run by a small and dedicated group of people who are passionate about the rights of all animals and committed to giving every dog the opportunity of a healthy and happy life.

“I’ve known Quicha for many years and I’ve seen first-hand the fantastic work she is doing. I think its important that residents and businesses give back to those doing so much for the animals who need a helping hand. The Durban North community has been fantastic in their support of us and we love giving back. I’m hoping to see as many feet through the door on Saturday to help support Project Dog. The event keeps getting better as the years have gone on,” Burmester said.

The Christmas Market fundraiser will also have raffles, as well as live music and food, Burmester added.

Quicha Morgado, who is the founder of Project Dog, said she was looking forward to the event.

“Our organisation is funded mainly by the very same people who foster, care for, rehabilitate and re-home the dogs that come to us. For this reason, we are extremely grateful for any donation or contribution made to Project Dog, no matter how big or small. This is an opportunity not only to raise funds for us but also raise awareness about what we do.

“As a pro-life organisation, we are committed to helping each and every dog that we rescue, regardless of breed, size or background. Each dog is treated with kindness and dignity until such time as we find the perfect match in terms of their new home,” Morgado said.
