Abused hound sparks outrage

The dog was brought into a local vet with an extreme case of mange and was severely emaciated.

DURBAN North resident, Jade Phillips, has expressed outrage over a badly abused dog that was brought into The Ridge Vet Clinic in uMhlanga recently. According to the passionate animal activist, Buddy, as he is affectionately known, was brought in with an extreme case of mange and was severely emaciated.

What’s more, doctors believe that one of his ears could be cancerous. Phillips, as a representative for the Durban North Neighbours Facebook page, which often assists with abused and lost pets, has appealed to the community to donate funds for a biopsy. They are also hoping to find a foster or home for the forlorn pup.

“He came from Verulam with a few other dogs from the same house and there is no money for a biopsy, which costs around R600. He is being treated for all the other problems, but its the cancer issue that is the problem. It need to be confirmed so treatment can be done,” she wrote in a post on the social media platform.

She added that Buddy has come a long way since he was rescued and has gained some weight in the last few weeks.
