M4 high speed chase ends in crash

Suspects crashed into a motorist on the M4 then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

THE SAPS K9 Unit is searching for three suspects in the sugarcane field on the M4, just before the Sibaya Casino turn-off, this after a high-speed chase ended in a crash on the freeway. What’s more, the suspects crashed into another vehicle in the chase before escaping on foot into the surrounding bushes.

According to Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the vehicle, a white Toyota Corrolla, was spotted by Verulam SAPS members, who thought it looked suspicious.

“When they attempted to get closer to the suspects’ car, they sped away. The high-speed chase ended just before the Sibaya Drive turn-off when the suspects struck another vehicle. The suspects tossed a firearm out into the bushes and abandoned the vehicle just a few metres away from the crash. They escaped into the bushes and are still at large,” he said.
