Umhlanga Beach closed due to weather

Bronze Beach and uMdloti Beach, one of several closed this weekend.

 

THE eThekwini Municipality has closed the majority of beaches around the city because of expected high winds and seas, as reported by South African Weather forecasting stations. Beaches will be closed on Saturday as a preventative measure.

The closure applies to all Durban beaches – north of Suncoast Casino as well as uMdloti, Blythedale, Thompsons Bay, Willards Beach, Westbrook, uMhlanga Bronze Beach and Brighton Beach.

“As a preventative measure to minimise the loss, damage or the potential threat of dislodged equipment, thus endangering the publci, a decision has been reached by the Boards Operations Department to remove the shark safety gear,” Tozi Mthethwa, municipal spokesman said.
