Raising funds on the run for TAFTA

Riverside Trail to host fourth fundraiser of the year for elderly.

RIVERSIDE Trail will host its fourth event this year in aid of The Association for the Aged (TAFTA). The fundraiser takes place at Virginia Bush on Sunday, 8 November and the starting gun fires at 7am.  There are two distances to choose from, a 4km (R40) and an 8km (R80) race. Durban North resident, Alison Chadwick, said she is hoping residents support the event.

“It’s been fantastic to give back to various charities this year. The elderly are often forgotten; there is a lot of awareness around animal abuse and children’s homes but sadly we seem to neglect the elderly. All the funds raised will go towards the association’s needy pensioners fund.

“We are hoping to have 700 people taking part in the event and I urge residents to get involved in this worthy cause. The event is ideal for the fit and not so fit, young and old,” Chadwick said.

Entries have opened online at www.roag.co.za and close at midnight, 5 November. Late entries on the day will have an additional R20 to pay.

Registration takes place from 5.45am to 6.45am at Virginia Soccer Field, Danville Avenue.
Riverside Trail will also be collecting these items on the day: Vaseline, body lotion, body powder, toothpaste, toothbrushes, bath soap, face towels, denture cleaner, roll-on deodorant and disposable razors.
