Greenwood Park business robbers nabbed

High speed chase and shootout led to the arrest of suspects involved in robbery at Greenwood Park this morning.

TWO men who were involved in a business robbery in Greenwood Park this morning were arrested by the Durban K9 Unit. The suspect’s vehicle, a black Toyota RunX was spotted by the unit who were doing their normal duties on Malandela Road in KwaMashu area.

“The vehicle looked suspicious and police instructed the occupants to stop. The vehicle sped off and the chase ensued. The suspects fired shots towards the police and they retaliated. The suspected vehicle collided with another vehicle and eventually crashed into a house at G section, KwaMashu,” explained provincial SAPS spokesman, Major Thulani Zwane.

“The occupants tried to flee on foot but police managed to arrest two of them with the help of their canines. Their vehicle was searched and police found five flat screens, four towers, a display unit, PVR decoder, two cellphones, two laptops as well as stationery.”

The men were then linked to a business robbery incident that occurred in Greenwood Park and the duo aged 20 and 42 will be charged for possession of suspected stolen property, attempted murder and business robbery.

They will appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court soon. The search of the fled suspect is continuing.
