A GARDENER was assaulted in a robbery in La Lucia earlier today. The incident occurred just before midday on William Campbell Drive. According to Marshall Security’s Tyron Powell, the gardener was assaulted by five armed men.
“They then held up the elderly resident and took various items and fled in a getaway vehicle. There was also a house break-in not long after on Fernlea Road in Sunningdale. The homeowners were not at home at the time and again the suspects made off with various items,” he said.
The incident comes just a day after another gardener was held up by armed men in Somerset Park. The suspects then ransacked the house, taking the owner’s car, which was later recovered. On Monday this week, Ocean Basket on Lagoon Drive was robbed of R37 000.
Police have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour.
