Unstoppable Nicole clinches another title

La Lucia surfer clinches her fifth title this year.

2015 has been somewhat of a watershed for local surfer, Nicole Pallet. The La Lucia resident recently won the U20 WSL pro-junior women’s event in the Billabong Junior Series grand finale at Seal Point in Cape St Francis. In all, it was her fifth triumph this year.

“I was really stoked to have won. Every time I’ve surfed a contest in Cape St Francis, I had never passed a semi-final, so to have made the finals was great. I’ve been able to take great experiences from the Billabong Series and I’ve learnt so much over this year, and I just hope to carry that through into next year, where ever it may take me.

“Winning the last two Billabong series and making semi-finals in the first Billabong gave me enough points to place first in the WSL rankings and become the 2015 WSL Africa Pro Junior Women’s Champion. This means that I’ll have the opportunity to participate in the WSL Junior Championships with 17 of the top pro junior girls from around the world,” she said.

The contest will take place in Ericeira, Portuga and Pallet is already hard at work preparing for the world champs.

“I just want to keep to the routine that I have been keeping to this whole year as it seems to have worked for me so far, keeping fit, going to the gym at least three times a week as well as doing yoga classes once a week. I want to try surf everyday, maybe twice a day if I can. I have to eat properly, no junk foods or processed foods. I like to try buy food that is organic or free range.

“I would like to thank my parents for always supporting me no matter what, and for funding most of my contest costs, and my brother for always pushing me to surf better and try new things.”

Pallet also thanked her friends, sponsors and her coach, Quinton Jones (QJ), for their support.
