Abandoned dogs desperately need foster home

The upcoming long weekend poses a threat to two dogs abandoned by their owners.

DURBAN North resident, Christy Holmes, is desperately seeking a foster home for two dogs abandoned at a property in Effingham. It is believed the dogs were abandoned by their previous owners. With the long weekend ahead, Holmes took to the Durban North Neighbours Facebook page in the hopes that local residents can offer the deserted duo a foster home.

“Almost four months ago, one of my tenants dogs had puppies. I then went to the property and took the puppies away as they were seriously ill. Project Dog took the puppies and I got the mom spayed. I just found out today that the owners moved out of the house and have left the mom and another dog there,” she said.

Holmes said while help was forthcoming from Project Dog, they needed assistance with housing the dogs for the upcoming long weekend.

“Kim Samuels from the organisation said she can take the dogs, but not until next week.  I’m devastated that they’ve done this after all I went through with them. They are such wonderful dogs. Such happy little creatures,” she added.
