Three dead in N2 Nandi Drive pile-up

Mayhem on the N2 after trucks collide leaving seven injured and three dead.

THREE people were killed in a collision involving two heavy goods vehicles, one of which was a concrete mixer, and multiple light motor vehicles on the N2, Northbound before Queen Nandi Drive this afternoon.

According to Crisis Medical spokesman, Kyle van Reenen, paramedics arrived on scene to find absolute mayhem with the driver of one of the trucks having sustained serious injuries and in a state of cardiac arrest.

“After a lengthy battle the man’s pulse was restored and he was transported to a nearby hospital. Three men were killed on impact and pronounced dead on arrival. Seven other motorists sustained minor to moderate injuries and were taken to various nearby hospitals. The cause of the collision is unclear and is under investigation by the South African Police Services,” he said.

Netcare 911 spokesman, who transported one of the patients said this was one of the worst accident scenes he had seen.
