Man fears he might be infected with rabies

A local resident said he will lay a charge against the owners of a dog that bit him yesterday.

A LOCAL resident said he has been left with a doctor’s bill set to run into thousands of Rands after he was bitten by a dog on La Lucia beach yesterday. In an e-mail to the Northglen News, Paul Murphy said: “I was walking on the La Lucia beach when I came across two ladies who had a number of dogs, all off leads. When I saw that, from my walking speed, I would pass them, I moved to the right of the beach so that I would not be between the dogs and their owners when I passed them.

“As I passed I kept my eye on them before turning forward again; barely a second later the dog had bitten me on my calf,” Murphy said.

He added that his leg began to bleed. Murphy said he feared that he might now be infected with rabies.

Murphy not only e-mailed the Northglen News, he also posted his ordeal on the Durban North Umhlanga Crisis Team page. This morning he said he would lay charges against the owners of the dogs.
