Staff held at gunpoint while robbers loot

A receptionist was held at gunpoint while armed men ransacked a business in Springfield Park.

FIVE armed men stormed a business premises in Springfield Park yesterday morning. The men, according to Blue Security operations manager, Brian Jackson, barged in at around 7:53am, just ten minutes after the Palmfield Road business opened its doors.

“One of the men held up the receptionist at gunpoint while the other four robbers loaded nine computers into their silver VW Polo. The robbers also took the business CCTV camera recorder in an attempt to cover their tracks. The police were immediately alerted to the robbery and gave chase, but it is unclear at this stage whether any arrests have been made,” he said.

Jackson said that armed robbers often strike in the early morning and evening when staff are busy unlocking or locking up the premises. He advised business owners to also be especially careful over month-end periods when making cash deposits and withdrawals as criminals were most active at this time of the month.
