Teenagers killed in M4 Sibaya crash

Two serious accidents on the M4 leave two dead, one seriously injured.

TWO teenage boys were killed when the Toyota they were traveling in rear ended a stationary heavy goods vehicle on the M4 near to Sibaya casino early Sunday morning. It is alleged the Toyota collided at high speed into the rear of the truck, which was stationary at the time, having broken down in the left lane said Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen.

“Unfortunately due to their extensive injuries there was nothing paramedics could do to assist them and both boys were declared dead on arrival. A third occupant remains in a serious condition in a local hospital,” he said.

In a second incident on the M4 near Virginia Airport, the driver of a BMW is alleged to have lost control of his vehicle at high speed causing it to roll several times, crashing through a fence before coming to a rest on the embankment.

“The driver, a thirty four year old male, was ejected through the windshield in the collision and had become trapped under the roof of the vehicle. A joint operation between Crisis Medical advanced life support paramedics and members of Ethekwini Fire and Rescue, saw a delicate hour long procedure as specialised hydraulic equipment was needed to free the man. He was stabilized on scene and remains in a critical but stable condition in a nearby hospital,” Van Reenen said.
