NINE suspects, seven of whom were armed, targeted an uMhlanga business in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The incident occurred on Armstrong Avenue at about 5.20am, confirmed Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS. The armed gang made off with electronic equipment worth more than R200 000.

“Four suspects entered from the front of the building while the other five jumped over the fence at the back of the property. They overpowered the guard and took a number of items, including laptops, computers and a TV. Seven of the group were armed with handguns,” he said.

Deokaran added no injuries were reported and that detectives were working on leads in the hopes of securing arrests.
