Burnt victim shot execution-style

Police have confirmed that the victim found in the burnt car in Glen Hills last night had been murdered.

THE person found in the boot of a burnt out car in Glen Hills last night had been shot execution-style.

This is according to W/O Leon Audh of the Greenwood Park SAPS, who commented on the grisly discovery made last night.

“The victim had sustained a single gunshot wound to the head and the hands were tied behind the back,” added Audh. The body was so badly burnt that they could not determine if it was male or female.

Residents from the Malacca Road Informal Settlement alerted both Robin Candy of the Greenwood Park CPF and uMhlanga ward councillor, Heinz de Boer, of a burning car just outside of the settlement after they spotted the flames.

The fire department and authorities were called to the scene soon after. When the flames had been doused and the vehicle inspected, police discovered that a person had been stuffed into the boot of the VW Polo Playa, said Audh.

According to Audh, the Polo had been stolen in Sydenham in August last year.

Police have urged anyone with information to come forward. A case of murder has been opened at the station.
