Starving dog rescued by local resident

"She was just skin and bones and was crawling in fleas and ticks" says Puppy SOS founder, David Hanson.

ANOTHER case of animal cruelty has surfaced after local resident and Puppy SOS founder, David Hanson, rescued a pure breed Swiss Shepherd which was found starving and wandering the streets of Phoenix recently. Cindy as she has been called was ‘almost dead’ when Hanson found her. This comes weeks after another dog, Puppy, rescued from Redhill, was starved because he was unwanted.

“She was just skin and bones and was crawling in fleas and ticks. Part of her right ear is missing and we have found that she was eating rocks because she was so hungry. Because of the rocks, some of her teeth were damaged and she had been passing blood because of the stones hurting her intestine. She was taken into a foster home where she picked up a little weight.

“Since her rescue, I can’t believe her change. It’s miraculous. She’s fought starvation and is healthy, energetic, and full of love. She has gorgeous eyes and just wants affection,” he said.

Hanson added Cindy, who is about a year old, was looking for a loving home and urged residents to contact him.

“She has come a long way since her ordeal. I urge residents to email me on puppysoskzn@gmail.com or visit our Puppy SOS KZN Facebook page. There are hundreds of puppies that need to find homes,” said Hanson.
