Security guard manhandled in uMhlanga robbery

Four suspects robbed an uMhlanga business.

A SECURITY guard was roughed up and bundled into a car while suspects robbed a business in uMhlanga yesterday morning. The incident occurred at about 4.45am on Lighthouse Road and the suspects were spotted using a silver Audi to flee the scene, said Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS.

“The security on-duty guard saw a suspicious vehicle with four men in it. He took the registration of the vehicle as it drove past him and made a U-turn further down the road. As the car came back around, two men jumped out. One of the suspects had a crowbar.

“The security guard was grabbed and pushed into the car, where the suspects manhandled him and stole his security cap. The man with the crowbar forced the door to the business open and stole two flat screen TVs and a transmitter. The security guard was pushed out of the car as the suspects returned to the vehicle with their loot,” he said.

Deokaran added that the number plates of the Audi were traced and were found to be fitted with fake plates.
