Unwanted dog starved by owner

Rescued pooch, Puppy, needs loving home.

A STARVING dog was so hungry that he had been eating rocks and dirt to stay alive. The severely emaciated dog was found by Good Samaritan and animal rescuer Vasendra Badal in Redhill recently. The pooch, named ‘Puppy’ had been left to his own devices and when asked, the owners response was that they ‘did not want the dog anymore’.

Badal said Puppy had also been run over almost a month before his rescue and was covered in fleas and ticks. Before the accident, he was tied up with a metal chain with no food or shelter. Now the animal rescuer is trying to find him a loving home.

“One of my friends informed me about his condition and I decided I had to take action. I’m very impulsive when it comes to animals. So I took him home because the owners said they did not want him anymore. They were also aware of him being run over. He was very thin and a bit skittish, but in the last few weeks, he has put on weight and is adjusting to the home environment,” she explained.

Badal added the rescued pooch’s first owners abandoned him, while the second didn’t feed him. He is estimated to be about three years old.

“I have rescue dogs of my own and I would love for him to find his home. He has a playful nature and all he wants to do is be a dog again,” she said solemnly. “He settled very quickly with my dogs, Sam and Max and he has his own pillow which he loves to sleep on.”
