uMhlanga winter beach festival kicks-off
Umhlanga beach festival offers plenty of fun in the winter sun.
THE annual Umhlanga Winter Festival will take place from Friday, 3 July to Monday, 6 July at uMhlanga Rocks Main Beach. While much of the country is grappling with the cold, the KZN coastline is still enjoying bouts of sunshine and warm days.
Pauline Timms from Umhlanga Tourism said she is looking forward to the event.
“We have people from all over the country taking part in the various contests and uMhlanga Beach is one of the prime venues with the great amenities. Families always have a memorable weekend, especially because moms and dads can have fun with their kids. This festival is very much family-orientated,” she said.
Both residents and beach-goers will be treated to a number of interesting surprises and treats for the duration of the weekend.
“There’s going to aerobics every morning, a talent competition, face painting, hula hoop competitions, tug-o-war as well as egg-and-spoon races,” she enthused.

What to expect
Friday, Saturday and Monday: 3, 4 and 5 July: There will be a Bootcamp on Friday, Saturday and Monday at 9am. There will be aerobics every day at 10 am (Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday)
Saturday 4 July: The Miss Umhlanga Winter Beach Babe competion which begins at 11am on the Umhlanga Millenium Stage
Sunday 5 July: The Umhlanga Trail Run and Walk which begins at 6am at the Millenium Stage Umhlanga Promenade Main beach, The finish and price giving is set for 9am.
