A 29-YEAR-OLD man is in a critical condition following a collision between his motorbike and a vehicle on Umhlanga Rocks Drive (just before the Rock Church). According to Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen, the biker sustained severe head injuries.
“The super bike had collided with the rear of a vehicle travelling towards Sunningdale. The driver of the bike was ejected over his handlebars in the collision. He sustained critical head injuries and advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilise him before he was placed onto a mechanical ventilator to assist him with breathing,” he said.
The road had to be cordoned off in both directions to make provision for the helicopter to land.
“The patient remained in a critical condition and was airlifted to Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital,” he said.
