Warm donation to Rivers Church

Varisty College Durban North support local church's winter charity drive.

VARSITY College Durban North recently donated a number of food parcels, blankets, books and clothing to the Rivers Foundation, a non-profit organisation linked to Rivers Church. Fathima Naidu, student relations manager at the Durban North campus, explained that every year, students and staff from the college, donate to the church’s winter drive.

“Many of our students come from privileged backgrounds and we felt we could make a difference by donating as much as we can, whether it be books, toiletries, clothes or blankets. There was a need for many of these items and the pupils and staff were very giving. This is just part of the collection, we will be bringing more to the church in coming weeks,” a beaming Naidu said.

Mosa Molwantwa said the Rivers Foundation supports four beneficiaries, namely ICare, Edith Benson Children’s Home, Quarry Heights Primary School and the Lakehaven Children’s Home.

“We are just blown away by the wonderful support shown by the community and the students, it has been a phenomenal response. Each of these beneficiaries has a need and we focus on things specific to them. For example, we are collecting books to furnish a library at Quarry Heights Primary School and baby toys for the children’s homes. We appreciate any donations for the cause,” Molwantwa said.
